A golf school will teach or improve your qualities on the golf course . A golf school is not a place where you only have to carry your golf bag all day, learn how to play golf, or improve your golf qualities, but it's also a place to relax and enjoy yourself. The skills you will get to learn vary from school to school.
It's not possible for everyone to learn the same swing as the school teaches you, because you will develop your own swing and another reason is that not all teachers have the same swing. But basically they will teach you the same fundamentals, which are very important for the development of your swing.
A golf school also gives the opportunity to meet new friends and you will meet all opponents on equal terms, because the golf school will let you compete against people of all standards, from beginners to professionals. Above all it doesn't matter if you are a beginner or an advanced player; you can always attend a golf school. Learning golf at a golf school vacation would be a great experience, because you will not only enjoy your vacation, it is also a possibility to meet golfers from other countries.
It is important to take best advantage of your time with a golf professional. Take note of what he/she tells you and voice any doubt which may come to mind. Don’t feel comfortable with the new grip? Say so! Remember that almost every part of the body is employed to make a golf swing a successful one – the power coming up from your balanced legs and good twist of the hips, shoulders and back; the deliverance of said power coming through your arms chest and turn of hands; and lastly, the direction of power coming from a well fixed head position. Bearing all these factors in mind, you are likely to have some aspect of your body and some strengths which are different to your teacher. Perhaps he/she is taller than you and so can make a wider back swing, perhaps you’re weaker and so need to put emphasis on power development, perhaps your hand-eye co-ordination is not as precise and so factors such as the turn of the hands as they make connection with the ball should be practised. Whatever it is, your teacher is there to help. If possible, ask for a video lesson. This is normally done in a net room so although you may not be seeing the ball flying 300 yards “straight down the middle”, you will learn a great deal about your swing (and always have the tape as a reminder should your swing begin to falter again in the future). Golf professionals love the sport and so you will often find the lessons run into overtime. What is more, they are often happy to recommend you equipment they think will help and furthermore, let you try it out on the range. Don’t forget to show your gratitude for these extras – it could be by buying him/her a whiskey at the club house or making a point of celebrating Teacher Appreciation Day 2008. If you are showing your appreciation for a specific reason (say you won a competition or you’ve finally curbed those slices), let your golf teacher know how much it means to you. It doesn’t have to be through and extravagant gift but a little token and quiet word will go a long way. Ultimately, on finishing golf school – remember to never, ever, buy your teacher a golf themed present! They are lucky enough to get a lot of golf equipment for free from promotions (furthermore, they’ll know what they like and what they don’t), golf professionals have free access to all the country’s courses and so buying him/her a round somewhere is inappropriate and unnecessary and lastly, they will have been to so many golf dinners, they’ll know each and every one of the golf jokes in that book you were thinking of buying! A nice gift for your graduation from golf school would be a bottle of whiskey (the golfer’s favourite) or a massage (in preparation for their next competition or to relieve the muscle tightening from the last).
Every golf school is different, the way to elect the best is to listen to recommendations and read reviews; only settled for the very best golf school, you could do your swing more harm than good by going to a bad one!
